Dracula's Gold Coast Age Limit: 16 and Over, and Why the Show Is Rated MA15+

Dracula's minimum age has been 16 for every booking since 1 April 2026; the show is rated MA15+ for coarse language, sexual references and partial nudity.

Updated October 2026

The minimum age at Dracula’s Gold Coast is 16, for every booking: the venue raised it from 15 on 1 April 2026. The show itself is rated MA15+ for coarse language, sexual references, drug references and partial nudity, and it is not an 18+ show. Some older pages, the venue’s own FAQ among them, still say 15+; the venue’s current ticket listings carry the notice of the change, so go by 16 for everyone in your group.

The venue’s FAQ page still reads “Our Show is 15+”, from before the change. It does not set out an ID policy, so if anyone in your group is close to 16, ask the box office before you book. Alcohol is a separate rule: the venue is a licensed bar, and in Queensland only adults 18 and over can be served.

Why it is rated MA15+

The show is a comedy cabaret, and the content is the adult kind found in late-night comedy rather than anything graphic:

  • Language and jokes. Coarse language, sexual references and drug references run through the comedy.
  • Costumes. Burlesque-style costumes and partial nudity.
  • Effects. Strobe lights and atmospheric effects, which the venue warns may not suit guests with vertigo, epilepsy, seizures, heart disorders or high blood pressure.

It is not a strip show, and the horror theme is played for laughs: the Ghost Train is the ride in, and the rest is a variety show. Guests describe it as “vibrant, exciting and a bit naughty” and “lots of laughs as well as being scary!”

Who it suits

  • Birthdays, hens’ and bucks’ nights, and groups of friends. The venue is built for them, with group pricing for 12 or more and cakes to order.
  • Couples after a loud, funny night out with dinner included.
  • Older teenagers with family, from 16. One September 2026 reviewer came with a group “ranging from teenagers to over 60” and said everyone came away smiling.

It does not suit anyone under 16, anyone hoping for a quiet dinner, or anyone who should avoid strobe lighting.

The Ghost Train and health

Every ticket starts with the Ghost Train. The venue advises against riding it during pregnancy, or with back or heart problems, claustrophobia, epilepsy, broken bones or recent surgery. It is reached by stairs and is not wheelchair accessible, while the theatre itself is; tell the box office when booking if anyone in your group needs another way in.
